/Hawaii News Articles/ - HONOLULU, HI, May 14, 2008 - Practicing engineers in Hawaii can now earn a master's degree in engineering management through a new in class, distance-learning program offered in Honolulu at Chaminade University in partnership with the University of Dayton, Ohio.
The Master of Science in Engineering Management Program offers practicing engineers the analytical tools and management skills needed to take their career to the next level. Students will receive lessons on quantitative techniques and mathematical models as well as coaching in management and leadership theory. Certificates in Six-Sigma and Systems Engineering are also being offered.
"We think that this puts a unique graduate degree within reach for engineers in Hawaii without the huge expense of going somewhere else or interrupting their careers," said Dr. Patrick Sweeney, Director of the Program.
In addition to attending classes at Chaminade University, students will receive instruction from professors at the University of Dayton through live lectures. These live lectures will allow students at Chaminade University to observe and participate in classes taking place at the University of Dayton, without ever leaving the local campus.
Dr. Patrick Sweeney, Professor of Engineering and Director of the Master of Science in Engineering Management Program at the University of Dayton will host two information sessions in Hawaii on Tuesday, May 13th, to discuss this new program. Information sessions are open to the public and will be held at noon at the Pearl Harbor Education Center and at 6 p.m. at Chaminade University's Castle Building in Room 20.
