Chaminade Hogan Program Recognizes Lifelong Entrepreneur with Achievement Award
The Chaminade University Hogan Entrepreneurial Program presented its first ever, Entrepreneurial Lifetime Achievement Award to distinguished entrepreneur, Clifford D. Cooper during its eighth induction/graduation ceremony on Wednesday, April 22 at the Mystical Rose Oratory.
HONOLULU, HI, April 25, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Chaminade University Hogan Entrepreneurial Program presented its first ever, Entrepreneurial Lifetime Achievement Award to distinguished entrepreneur, Clifford D. Cooper during its eighth induction/graduation ceremony on Wednesday, April 22 at the Mystical Rose Oratory.
Established to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the business community, the Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to Clifford Cooper for his numerous accomplishments. Ed and Lynn Hogan, founders of Pleasant Holiday Travel and the Hogan Family Foundation attended the event to personally present the award.
Clifford Cooper was the founder of the Cooper Development Corporation, producer of the rockets used to launch America's first satellites into space. He was also a founder of Manufacturer's Bank of Southern California and the National President of the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce. Cooper was also a board member of the United States Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Hoover Commission, director of the US Small Business Administration and an advisor to the Secretary of Defense. In addition, Cooper authored The Runt Pig Principle: A Fundamental Approach to Solving Problems and Creating Value.
"Cliff Cooper is an outstanding example of an entrepreneur who recognizes the importance of entrepreneurship to our nation's economic development while remaining equally mindful of the social implications of his work. He is a remarkable man and we are delighted to recognize him in this way," said Brother Bernard Ploeger, President of Chaminade University.
Since its inception in 2002, The Hogan Entrepreneurial Program has graduated almost 200 student entrepreneurs including this year's seventh graduating class of more than 20. The 2009 graduation/induction ceremony welcomed 26 new students into the Hogan Program. President and CEO of Enterprise Honolulu, Mike Fitzgerald served as the event's keynote speaker.
Designed to prepare Chaminade's top students for entrepreneurial careers, community service and ethical conduct, the Hogan Program appeals to students looking for an extra challenge. Hogan students come from a variety of disciplines-art, science, business, communication, psychology and education majors -with the hope of expressing their talents and unique interests as entrepreneurs while demonstrating a high degree of social responsibility.
In 1998, Ed and Lynn Hogan established the Hogan Family Foundation with the mission to promote a greater understanding of the importance of promoting an entrepreneurial spirit through the creation and operation of educational, civic-minded and humanitarian programs designed to encourage a more productive and contributory society.
